Kurt was born in San Francisco and grew up in Orange County, CA. While he was often in and around church he didn’t have a transforming relationship with Jesus until he was in High School. While in high school he felt God moving his heart towards building a church where even those that didn’t like church could connect with Jesus, but didn’t know when or where that would happen.

 

While studying Business Economics and Religion in America at UC Santa Barbara, Kurt met and fell in love with an amazing woman named Katie. Together, they started an on-campus college ministry to reach those that no one else was reaching. They got married soon after graduation. Kurt served as an intern with the High School Ministry at Saddleback Church and a Student Pastor for 4 years, with Katie at Point of Grace Church, re-engineering and growing a ministry from 30 students to over 300.

 

In the Summer of 2009, a unique tweet caught Kurt’s attention and began the adventure of a lifetime, as the Duggleby's followed the call to move to Chicago, to help launch Soul City Church with Jarret and Jeanne Stevens, where Kurt served as the Director of Next Steps and Connections, helping people find community, discover their passions and take their unique next step toward Jesus.

 

Kurt is now the Lead Pastor of Existence Church, leading an inclusive, missional, community, to love people towards Jesus. He regularly shares how everyone can find their place in the Story of God, with conviction, honesty, and humor.  A leader of leaders, Kurt has launched multiple initiatives to develop and maximize the potential of others, as together they make Jesus' Church beautiful.

 

Kurt and Katie welcomed their daughter Selah Mae in March 2015, and their son Leighton James in September 2016. They currently live in San Diego, California.
